THE WORST AND BEST
MAYOR OF SF -- TALKS A LOT ON YOU TUBE
SF Mayor goes on "The Tube". Booooring! Hey, Mr. Mayor. A seven hour speech on You Tube? How many people did you put to sleep? Try this instead. Since you claim that the City is so broke, why not cut out all those committees they decide what's best for the City. Isn't that what the Supervisors are elected to do? Don't be a Dim Bulb. Save bucks and be a hero.
LEE'S MICRO REVIEWS
AUSTRALIA -- AUSTRALIA SEES GAIN ON U.S AUTO RESCUE PLAN. Ooops...wrong headline. Australia the movie takes place in the mid 40's. But nothing much has changed over the decades. There was war then and their is war now. Baz Luhrmann who brought to the screen the absolutely marvelous "La Boheme" starring Nicole Kidman, brought audiences to their feet.
His new Movie about Australia's outback is interesting, but way too long. Yes, I'm sure - IT'S WAY!" The Pix is gorgeous, but so are documentaries with fly over views of landscapes. But, it is saved by Top Drawer acting Kidman and Huigh Jackman. Yep, although long -- I would recommend this emotional and heartfelt tale, even though it is not the Triumph that Luhrmann would have liked -- it is unforgettable. My advice is to shave off about 20 minutes or so. The boy who plays an Orphan Aborigine, is remarkable. LEE'S RATING: THREE BOXES OF POPCORN.
(TRADEMARKED) Don't even think of trying to steal it! Three is not bad. Four would be best -- so Baz. Just trim it a little and it might be just perfect.
CADILLAC RECORDS features the music of Muddy Water, Etta James and Chuck Berry. This is the story of the Cadillac Record Company. They were the first to feature 'Black' artists on a record label. It's a Rags to Riches tale. Take your pick. Which do you want? Well, for me it's the music that is rich. The story is a little too pat, even though it is based on fact. They looked through those Hollywood Rose Colored classes on this one. See it for the music. RATING; THREE GLASSES OF CHAMPAGNE!!! -trademarked-

I am a 49 yr old female living in Sydney who has seen most of the so called high end films in her lifetime. the movie AUSTRALIA has to be one of the best films I have ever seen . The story, the photography the acting and the visuals BRILLIANT!! Kept me entertained and interested for the entire 3 hours. Nicole was exceptionally beautiful in a very natural way, Hugh had his usual testosterone packed body and the young upcoming star in the form of Nulla was unforgettable.
I think the quality of this film has been underated and I believe there is an amount of jealousy out there that hasn't given Baz the credit he deserves. For me I look forward to watching it again and again and buying the DVD and having it in my library at home. Baz, Nic and Hugh well done for telling a story that needed to be told and it was told exceptionally well. All the other well worn exceptionally talented Australians actors in it helped to tell a story that will go down as an Australian version of the good old "Gone with the Wind' , I encourage all Australians to embrace it and enjoy it as I did particularly in Gold Class seats at the cinema.
Well done to all the cast and crew of AUSTRALIA.
