NP Rank:
My Friends, the Illegal Immigrants
I know this because I know dozens of immigrants: Most of them want to return to Mexico. Their purpose in crossing the border is to find a job and the means to live with more dignity than their country can offer.
They do want to come back. They don’t want to spend entire nights chewing over their jealousy, imagining their women in the arms of others.
They don’t want their children’s lives to go on without them. They don’t want to be separated from their lands or their homes.
They want to work, to make an honest living. And then to return. It’s that simple: to return.
Why do illegal immigrants risk everything to cross the border? How do they cope with leaving their family and everything they know behind in the pursuit to better their economic circumstances?
This article describes the heart-wrenching pain and difficulties illegal immigrants face once inside the United States. American law prevents paperless immigrants from being able to fluidly move across the border, yet economic hardship in their home country compels many to view working in the U.S. as their only opportunity to improve their circumstances. Yet, a father risking his life to cross the border leaves his children only knowing their dad through a long lost photograph or a voice from a telephone, rather than the man himself. Both husbands and wives alike are inundated with jealousy and loneliness, not knowing if their partner has moved on or started a new family.
How can you not yearn for that little girl to be able to see her daddy, or for the loving wife to be able to embrace her husband? When you look at how policies affect individuals’ lives and empathize with their stories of hardship, things get complicated. It is through this process that immigration law changes from a distinct right and wrong and instead blurs shades of grey.

they can whine about it, but the fact is that they are illegal! my family came to America legally last century, learned English, assimilated, and settled down. on the other hand, thanks to illegal Mexicans, the Americans are being driven out of such businesses as landscaping, and whatever else the illegals can do without learning English.
it's better than Europe and their Muslims who don't assimilate, i suppose.
