Swap Don't Shop Topshop, Oxford St, Sat 29 Nov

"Take your clothes off! Swap them with your friends for FREE!" was the message from the Space Hijackers, who decided to set up their clothes swap - "the restyling fashion mash-up event of the year" - which started on the lower ground floor of TOPSHOP at Oxford Circus. The idea was to demonstrate that "we don't need to spend money we don't have on things we don't need."

The most interesting aspect of this story, for me, was how photographers were treated. When, I wonder, did the police and security staffs of Britain begin to fear and hate cameras so much? Cameras don't really suck out your soul when they photograph you.

(If that ASBO photo isn't his Facebook profile pic, then it should be)

My friend saw this going on - she said she was just confused with what was happening

The same idea behind the really really free market.  Check it out www.reallyreallyfree.org.  I recently attened the last one in Houston.

Amy, there were some leaflets being handed out to explain it, but most people who saw it didn't get one and many did seem confused. I think many protests would be more effective if there was a greater attempt to communicate with the public.
