Natalie Portman has confirmed that she is joining the cast of Marvel Comics' Kenneth Branagh-directed 'Thor' movie, starring alongside Chris Hemsworth who plays Thor.

Natalie Portman will portray Jane Foster, Thor's love interest.

'Thor' is being directed by Kenneth Branagh and is scheduled for theatrical release in May 2011.

Star Wars actress Natalie Portman has joined the cast of superhero adventure movie Thor. The screen siren will appear in the comic book adaptation alongside the movie's star Chris Hemsworth.

Portman, 28, will play Jane Foster, who was a nurse and first love of the title character in the Marvel Comics. According to Marvel Studios, the female lead character is being updated for the movie version of Thor, in which the Norse warrior is cast down to Earth to live among humans.
