If you want to feel free as the wind in a non-judgmental environment, consider the lifestyle of the naturist. It is family-orientated, relaxing, and has many health benefits.

Naturism is the practice of complete nudity in a social setting. Though nudity is the most obvious aspect of naturism, it is part of a much wider context.

The purpose of naturism is to promote wholesomeness and stability of the human body, mind, and spirit. These come most easily to those who shed the psychological and social encumbrance of clothing, to see and respect the human body as created.

Naturism is founded on family participation. Children in naturist families learn to appreciate the body as part of their natural environment. They grow up with healthful attitudes and accept the physical nature of both sexes and all ages without fear or shame.

But on its most fundamental level, naturism is fun! Young children have an innate appreciation of running around nude and most adults have experienced the sheer joy of skinny dipping at night. Naturism allows people bring that pleasure back into their daily life.

Whether you'll admit it or not, you've probably succumbed to the urge to rip your clothes off on a secluded beach---and if you haven't, you're missing out.

Here in Halifax, take a wander up to Crystal Crescent's third beach....

It's a communal philosophy of living in harmony with nature and each other. The Bluenose Naturist Society has a membership of around 50 people. You'll find them gathered at Crystal Crescent's third beach under a collection of umbrellas, where they slather themselves in sunscreen to enjoy the sun and conversation.
