NP Rank:
NBC Serves Fried Chicken "in Honor of Black History Month"
I love that headline. But it's true!
Questlove, drummer of The Roots-- Jimmy Fallon's house band-- posted a photo on Twitter of a sign in the NBC cafeteria of their lunch specials "In Honor of Black History Month", which includes fried chicken, collard greens, and cornbread.
Some of my friends asked me if I was offended by that. Honestly, it just made me hungry. I haven't had fried chicken in a LONG time! And jalapeno cornbread?! Wow! That sounds freakin' GOOD!! As for the racial insensitivity, well...I mean, they did leave out watermelon and Kool-Aide, so I guess it's not that bad.
Is it wrong to be Black and like that menu? I mean, let's face it...you go to a soul food restaurant, and all of that stuff is on the menu. Is it racist to have Italian food during the San Gennaro Festival? Can we not have General Tso's Chicken during Chinese New Year? And I guess during Passover, we can't have Matzah Ball Soup.
You wanted a Post-Racial America?! You GOT IT!!!
So eat up!
