The NBHHCM (National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month) Foundation www.NBHHCM.org has declared June 16, 2010 as "Biggie & Tupac Day" during NBHHCM 2010. The 2 fallen hip-hop culture icons have had a tremendous influence on the hoops and hip-hop culture since its birth-year in 1984.

The "Biggie & Tupac Day" will be used to reflect on the cultural impact that these 2 hip-hop icons had on the culture. Tupac Shakur http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupac_Shakur was born on this day June 16, 1971. Shakur was a major influence to the all-time #1 NBA player that personified the hoops and hip-hop culture Allen Iverson. Iverson by all account was labeled the "Tupac of the NBA" when he came into the league in 1996. Iverson started his NBA career less than 2 months after the death of Shakur (September 13, 1996).

Christopher Wallace aka, Notorious B.I.G. or Biggie Smalls http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biggie (born May 21, 1972-March 9, 1997) is credited with bring hip-hop back to New York. New York is the "Capital" to hoops and hip-hop culture in America. Wallace wrote in one of his famous songs "Things Done Changed", because the streets is a shortstop, either sling crack rock or you got a wicked jump-shot. He was making reference there were two ways to make it out of the ghetto.

The NBHHCM Foundation would also like to take the "Biggie & Tupac Day" to examine the violent side of hip-hop and how it can be reversed with awareness and dialogue.

Biggie & Tupac are icons to the culture and will be honored each year on June 16th as "Biggie & Tupac Day."
