NBHHCM 2K11 Honors Back-to-Back 15th Annv. of Jay-Z & Iverson
June 26, 2011- The NBHHCM (National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month) Foundation is honoring the 15th Anniversary of the 1996 NBA Draft that was held on this day 15-years ago on June 26, 1996. Allen Iverson was the first pick of the 1996 NBA Draft.
Allen "The Answer" Iverson the #1 all-time most influential player to the hoops and hip-hop culture fusion was selected number 1 overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. Iverson's impact culturally is seen today with some players sporting corn-row hair styles, shooting sleeves, and tattoos.
LeBron James is the current NBA player that is the most popular within the hoops and hip-hop culture. LeBron has more tattoos than Iverson. James is also the new villian of the league a title that once belonged to Iverson.
Iverson was the 2001 NBA MVP, an 11-time All-Star, a 4-time scoring champion, and 2-time All-Star Game MVP. He led the 76ers to the 2001 NBA Finals vs the Los Angeles Lakers. The Sixers were the only team to defeat the Lakers in the 2001 playoffs. Allen is 17th on the NBA all-time scoring list with 24,368 points.
Jay-Z the hip-hop mogul 15-years ago on June 25, 1996 the day before Allen Iverson was taken #1 in the 1996 NBA Draft released his debut album "Reasonable Doubt."
The album was big success for Jay-Z with hit songs Can't Knock the Hustle, Dead Presidents, and Brooklyn's Finest a collaboration he did with late Notorious B.I.G.
When Allen Iverson was on the cover of SLAM Magazines 18th Issue for June 1997 Scoop Jackson titled the featured article on Iverson "Can't Knock the Hustle." Iverson is on the cover of the current 150th Issue for August 2011.
Jay-Z is one of the top 10 most influential figures to the hoops and hip-hop culture and the highest ranked rap-star. Jay-Z is a minority owner of the New Jersey Nets who will be playing in Brooklyn, NY for the 2012-13 season.
The NBHHCM Foundation congratulates both Jay-Z and Allen Iverson on their 15th Anniversary milestone celebrations during NBHHCM (National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month ) 2K11.
