New HBHHCM '10 Slogan, June is Basketball ChampionsHip-Hop Month
This past June 2009 was recognized as National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month when the City of Baltimore became the first US City to sign a Proclamation proclaiming NBHHCM http://www.nbhhcm.org/proclamation.pdf.
National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month was founded in 2009 to honor the 25th Anniversary (1984-2009) of the hoops and hip-hop culture fusion born in 1984. That time period is known today as The "Dunkadelic-Era" In America. The "Dunkadelic-Era" will be starting Part 2 of the chapter for the next 25 years 2009-2034 during the year 2010.
The new logo for NBHHCM 2010 was unveiled in front of Baltimore's City Hall on October 30, 2009. The logo art piece was created by a Baltimore-area local artists. The logo incorporates a basketball with a boom-box with National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month 2010 scripted across the front of the boom-box. The art work is surrounded by various cities from around the country.
The NBHHCM slogan "June is Basketball ChampionsHip-Hop Month" celebrates the crowning of a new NBA Champion with hip-hop during the month of June. Derrick E. Vaughan founder of NBHHCM says, "that its a great combination to connect basketball, championship, and hip-hop all together. Its a match made in heaven by the gods of hoops and hip-hop."
There are other US cities that will proclaim June 2010 as National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month. Those cities will be revealed leading up to NBHHCM June 210.
