Florida-based filmmaker Steve McAlpin will host a screening of his third film, "What Goes Around," at the Hoff Theatre at 6 p.m. Saturday. The dramatic love story was supposed to star Prince George's County resident Alton Ashman, 27, who was slain in February in Adelphi while leaving a club.

Ashman, a reggae artist who performed under the stage name Rraw Dawg and was also a co-producer for the project, had performed in the filmmaker's second film, "Bashment." The Jamaica-born artist had filmed two scenes before his death.

The film is dedicated to him and has been edited so that there is no violence in it because of the way that Ashman died, film spokeswoman Angel Waldron said.

"It was really hard for us because he had done so well in the second film, and as a reggae artist, he was starting to gain a lot of exposure and just representing Washington in the reggae community. To see him on the brink of really making it and have this happen is really sad," Waldron said.
