New Kids on the Block: Then
I first discovered New Kid's on the Block at a 1988 concert for the pop singer Tiffany. The concert was at Kings Island Amusement Park in Ohio. They were Tiffany's opening act. Me and my sister and a couple of our friends had heard the song "Please Don't Go Girl" on the radio before and we really liked it alot. When we got to Kings Island, we were walking to the entrance and New Kids must have been doing a sound check, because out of nowhere comes Joey's voice ♪ Please Don't Go Girl...... ♪ We were like, OMG! That's that song! The concert began and New Kid's ran out onto the stage. I don't recall what song they sang first? Anyway, it was long until the boys from Boston had the entire audience screaming and it got even louder when Joey began "Please Don't Go Girl". It was awesome! I had a camera, but in the 80's the best I had was a Kodak, no zoom lense (rat's!). We were waving at Joey while he was singing and he waved back! I had that pic, and now I don't know what happened to it :( I have a couple more but they are blurry. We weren't very far back so we were able to get his attention. My sister is a few years younger than me and I thought her and her friend were gonna pass out. LOL! I'll never forget that day. The memory is vivid and will stay with me forever.
Tiffany gave a great concert that night. I loved every song off her first album. I thought she was awesome! When she came out on stage, we were like, OMG again..lol. I got some pics of her too. I continued following her career until she kinda faded out. But I still enjoy her music, old and new. It would be great to see her on stage again. But right now, I'm ready for New Kids Reunion!!! Woo-Hoo!
