Laura Bush Book: Spoken From The Heart: Suggests Poisoning of President and G8 Leaders

A new memoir by former First Lady Laura Bush suggests that President Bush may have been poisoned during a G8 summit in Germany in 2007.

Laura Bush's memoirs, Spoken From The Heart, is scheduled to be released May 4th but copies were leaked ahead of time, one obtained by The New York Times. The Times says,

They all became mysteriously sick, and the president was bedridden for part of the trip. The Secret Service investigated the possibility they were poisoned, she writes, but doctors could only conclude that they all contracted a virus. After noting several high-profile poisonings, she wrote, “we never learned if any other delegations became ill, or if ours, mysteriously, was the only one.”

Laura Bush also wrote about a tragic car accident when she was ateenager in Texas in 1963. The incident was political ammunition for Bush opponents when he was running for office but for the first time Laura Bush discloses what happened from her perspective

The then 17 year old Laura Bush was driving her father's car at night her  way to a movie when she ran a stop sign.

"In those awful seconds, the car door must have been flung open by the impact and my body rose in the air until gravity took over and I was pulled, hard and fast, back to earth," she writes, according to the Times.

"The whole time ... I was praying that the person in the other car was alive. In my mind, I was calling 'Please, God. Please, God. Please, God,' over and over and over again," Bush also writes.

Laura Bush also defended her husband from what she says were uncivil criticisms about his character.

Bush bristles at criticism thrown at her husband, former President George W. Bush. She says his New Orleans flyover after Hurricane Katrina was in the best interest of victims and aid workers.

She criticizes Democrats for calling her husband "an incompetent leader" and a "loser." She says that was "uncalled for."
