Twilight New Moon Director Chris Weitz Says He Misinformed Twilight Fans

Was it a case of desperate marketing or an honest mistake?

Twilight New Moon director Chris Weitz says it is the later. Long before the much anticipated March 20th DVD release of another Twilight edition New Moon, Weitz promised that the DVD will contain a scene deleted from the version of the movie that was played in movie theatres. The news of a never-seen deleted scene whetted the appetites of Twilight fans that embrace anything extra Twilight they can get.

But, now Weitz says he realized that the New Moon DVD contains no deleted scenes the way he promised.

"I'm basically a big, fat liar," Weitz tells NBC's PopcornBiz. "I put it out there that there are deleted scenes, but I just realized there aren't. It was an honest mistake."

It turns out Twilight production company will spread the extras slowly across several DVD releases.

Interestingly, Weitz revealed earlier this month that he won't be returning to direct the final film of the franchise. So, maybe he just does not have a vested interest anymore.
