New 'Nightmare on Elm Street' Movie Planned

Be prepared to have your dreams haunted once again.
Freddy Krueger is coming back to the big screen in a new installment of the Nightmare on Elm Street horror movie franchise.
The funny bits will be gone, the gore will be back in full force, but there's no word on who will take over from Robert Englund as the razor-clawed Freddy.
When I was a kid, I was appropriately horrified by recurrent visions of being terrorized by the evil man in the red and black striped sweater.
Each time it happened I would awake, quaking with fear, having been clawed and captured by Freddy.
But after weeks of fearing the recurrence of this horror flick-induced nightmare, I decided to face my foolish fear.
Finally, one night, when Freddy came to steal me away in my dreams, I fought back.
After a prolonged cinematic dream-battle, I won.
I beat him. I vanquished that fictional Krueger and forever banished him from disturbing my peaceful sleep world.
But perhaps he's just been lying dormant, hiding in Hollywood hibernation for many a creepy year, just waiting to re-emerge in a new filmic form...and now he's been given the opportunity!
So let this be a word of warning, kids.
When Freddy comes for you, be ready to fight back.
With the Friday the 13th reboot coming up, it was only a matter of time before Freddy Krueger made his appearance. And that time is now, as Platinum Dunes co-heads Brad Fuller and Andrew Form told STYD that the deal is done to reboot the classic ‘80s horror franchise."It’s our next movie, hopefully shooting this spring" said Form, referring to Nightmare on Elm Street.
"It’s not Freddy cracking jokes. We want to make a horrifying movie. The concept is so scary, don’t fall asleep or you’ll die. This guy gets you when you’re most vulnerable, in your sleep. We love that. That’s the basis of the movie. It’ll be most similar to the first one but in terms of kills and dreams we’ll borrow from the entire series," says Fuller.
Original Freddy star Robert Englund will be back for a role, though someone new will step into the dream-hopping demon’s role.

Well I know im not alone here when I say NO ONE can be Freddy other than Mr. Robert Englund. Just the mere thought of some1 else playing his part doesn't make sense.No 1 can do it the way he did. But im waiting on a sequel to "Freddy vs Jason".@ the end Jason walked out of the lake holdoing Freddy's head.....that is hinting towards a sequel....Friday the 13th....2/13/09...a must see

Robert England is the only actor that i would want to as Freddy. Just would not be the same Freddy with out him.

I love the freddy movies but if it isnt robert englund is it worth seeing? I will go see it becuz im a freddy fan all the way but if it doesnt sound like him and look like him then it will be a little upsetting. Its like jason who wears a mask and doesnt talk.

Ok I agree if Robert Englund isn't playing Freddy then it's not Freddy. He was the original and nobody can do better. Why don't they do another Freddy vs. Jason or something? The last two Nightmare on Elm Streets sucked compared to the first few.

I think Rob Zombie should direct it :) He did a good job with the remake of Halloween. Also Johnny Depp should be casted as well :)

and what the hell....the guy they have playing the "new freddy" looks like he's the same freakin' age as Robert....the guy from that crappy film WATCHMEN.....JESUS.....sucks just thinkin about it... what's the point of makin another freddy if it's not robert?
