A Children's story with a Profit Line

Salem Massachusetts

A Walk Through Salem is the latest in the towns tourist attractionsA Walk Through Salem is an interactive story of magic and whimsy set in Salem Massachusetts. Starting at the Unzipping Tree in the Salem Commons, Tourists are welcom to read along with the book as they follow the story line through the streets of Salem. Mr. Zac will take you to places where fish fly and wait at the traffic light to turn, the hawthorne Statue smokes a Clarabell the Clown bubble pipe, tall ships drop anchor on the sidewalk next to the meter at the old seawall on Derby Street, and Vikings storm Dead Horse Beach. The self guided book tour is open year round, weather permitting or not.

The Profit Line

Now the interesting thing about it is, the profit line.  The Story Line will compliment the already existing Red Line that guides tourists to the historical sites in town. For years local merchants and restaurants try to persuade city hall to expand the line to run past thier places of business. Even though those that are found on the line have mixed feelings about its efectiveness. But the blue Story Line from A Walk Through Salem will become the profit line for the Salem tourist industry.

How the Story Line becomes a Profit line is this.  Readers of A Walk Throug Salem will come from all over the world to follow along with the story. The line will lead them to the shops that have been transformed innto whimsical magical variations of themselves. Outside of these shops on the Story Line will be plaques demarking that original artwork depicting the store is inside. Tourists visiting Salem will venture in to see the artwork giving the merchant a chance to make whim sales. Also starting at the Unzipping Tree in the Salem Commons, there will be a bronze statue much similiar of  Coach Red Auerbach at Fanneuil Hall in Boston, of Mr Zac sitting on a bench. Mr. Zac, the stories main character, will be ready for photo ops. This will create another local industry of people who can take digital photos of Salem Tourist sitting with Mr. Zac that can be sent instantly through wifi to loved ones around the world. The photos will be bordered by ads from local merchants in a form of paid advertisement.

Another problems that faces the local economy is the boom or bust nature.  Salem is too reliant on the  month of October with the witchcraft fasination and Salem Haunted Happenings during Halloween. Mr. Zac will bring year round tourism to Salem Massachusetts that will merge its history of the witches with that of its maritime past.

A Walk Through salem also invites its readers to follow its development from research photographs of Salem, to it sketches, and to its final pages.  A Walk Through Salem also invites you to follow Chris Dowgin, the author and illustrator,  on Youtube as Hal the critic harrasses him as he paints. A Walk Through Salem will invite you into the mind of a fairy Tale as it is being created. You can sit with Barrie as he dreams of Sailing with Captain Cook, See the pen strokes that Tenniel created to travel Alice through Wonderland, and advise Milne on further adventures of Pooh!  Just follow along at www.mr-zac.com
