The name D.B. Cooper first made the pages of the Daily Colonist and the Victoria Daily Times on Nov. 25, 1971 -- the day after Cooper (or whatever his name really was) hijacked a Northwest Orient jet between Portland and Seattle.

More than 37 years later, we still wonder what happened to Cooper. His daring stunt -- leaping from the back door of the jet, $200,000 in hand, somewhere over southern Washington -- remains the most notable unsolved hijacking in history.

An new theory on the 1971 unsolved skyjacking case - a canadian connection where by a French comic originally created in the 1950s had as its hero Dan Cooper, a Royal Canadian Air Force test pilot serving in Europe.

The FBI have now reopened the case *again* and are still looking for evidence after all this time...would be interesting to know why they need to pin this ex-special forces? guy so badly.

Some background: fbi, wiki, larrycarr(fbi) talk radio interview, Richard Mccoy link,

An FBI agent probing one of the bureau's most famous cold cases -- the 1971 disappearance of hijacker-parachutist "D. B. Cooper" somewhere over the U. S. Pacific Northwest -- has announced a bizarre development in the investigation: a new theory that the mystery man's name and escape method were inspired by a French comic book's Canadian hero.
