England batsman Eoin Morgan will face a late fitness test ahead of the second Twenty20 international against New Zealand.

England beat their hosts in the first T20 match on Saturday with their record score of 214 for seven in the short format, but could be without Morgan for tomorrow’s encounter, after the 26-year-old Middlesex man missed today’s practice session with a jarred back.

Morgan hit 46 in England’s 40-run victory at the weekend, but could be forced to sit out in Hamilton with youngster Joe Root ready to fill the void, but Morgan’s likely absence will still be a big blow for Stuart Broad’s side.

Meanwhile, Surrey bowler Jade Dernbach will be passed fit despite sustaining an arm injury in practice, while New Zealand duo Ian Butler and Grant Elliott are set to return to action.

A victory for England tomorrow will seal the three-match T20 series, before Andy Flower’s men compete in three One Day Internationals and a three-match Test series before returning home at the end of March.
