Newest Twilight Book, 'Midnight Sun', Delayed
I have a good idea of how the leak happened as there were very few copies of Midnight Sun that left my possession and each was unique. Due to little changes I made to the manuscript at different times, I can tell when each left my possession and to whom it was given. The manuscript that was illegally distributed on the Internet was given to trusted individuals for a good purpose. I have no comment beyond that as I believe that there was no malicious intent with the initial distribution.
When your rough draft is released to the world without your consent, it's a very hard thing for an author experience. Unfortunately, Stephenie isn't sure if she will continue the series after this incident and has posted the draft on her site so her fans won't have to travel to the torrents for the leaked file.

I've just started reading this series and love it. *I love vampire stories :-). I was saddened to hear the Midnight Sun draft had been leaked. That's terrible. I look forward to reading all of the books still and wish the best for Mrs. Meyer.
NOTE: This photo will not be reproduced by me or anyone else for any profit! It was merely taken and creatively designed to pay gratitude to this series and author.

Well it would be a shame if she stopped writing the series because of the leak. I really enjoy this series and so what if it was leaked, it's not going to stop the fans from buying the book, in fact it just may create more of a buzz about the book.

Thanks for the photo Sunshine Stacey! I really hope she works everything out and continues the series.

Thanks for the photos. I think that it's more of a personal thing for Ms. Meyer. To have something unfinished and -- in her eyes -- not ready for the public, it probably feels like a violation.

I hope that this only proves to everyone further how disrespectful and unfair it is for people to use the internet for their personal advantage, at the cost of someone's disadvantage. Theft is theft, even in the context of the internet over a computer screen. Stephanie deserves more credit than this and the series is too phenomenal to be wasted in such a selfish manner that takes so much away from her hard work. I severely hope that nobody who considers themselves a devoted fan to her works would contemplate doing anything like this or contributing to it. I don't even personally have the curiosity to read the except copy that she's posted after all of this. I find the entire situation absolutely disgusting. I consider myself so lucky to be in the generation of Meyer's releases. It's such a personal experience to be within the realms of somebody's mind and thoughts. They are more than just books. They are pieces of her, pieces of crucial characters that she's created. To ignore and disrespect that is unimaginable. I hope she finds the courage to push this aside and continue the series. I would hate to know that because of someone's thoughtless actions, the world would lose out on such a great piece of literary genius.

The Twilight series is amazing. I have yet to see the leak of the much anticipated Midnight Sun, and hope i don't come across it. This is ruining such a good thing, for lovely Stephanie Meyer and for her fans, and its upsetting that people would be so immature to do it. The fact that this has put the novel on hold indefinately is horribly upsetting. I can't help but feel hate for those responsible for this.

What a lame thing for someone to do. This was not only her livelihood, this is her ART, and it is selfish and irresponsible for someone to take advantage of her trust like that.
It would be a huge shame if she stopped writing, but I understand why she feels she may not be able to continue anymore.

This is a piece of art work created by an unknown artist for the Barnes and Nobel's Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Arizona.
This photo was taken just before the Breaking Dawn book was released. It was a bloody fantastic time and I still hope that Midnight Sun can see the light of day in it's entirety.

I waited in line after midnight with my teenage daughter for the release of Breaking Dawn, both of us thrilled to finally find out more about the Twilight Saga. Now we find out that Midnight Sun has been delayed...indefinitely.
What surprises me most about Stephenie Meyer's reaction to the leak is how huge of a decision she's made for the future of the series and for her fans. The fans I know feel they are being punished for something that was completely out of their control. After the rocky release of BD, I wonder what putting this book on hold will do to her fan base.

My 2 cents...
I foresaw a future - one that I truly wanted. An immediate future that held a movie - one for which I wouldn't have to wait long. Also, a more distant future - Midnight Sun. It was that last future that I really wanted. The first would have to tide me over. Now my future has been crushed (not in the literal sense, I still have a family and wonderful children to tend to and enjoy, but I do feel lost without that distant prize). I truly hope that Stephenie takes the time to work out her irritation and hurt, and eventually realizes that she took away a future we (the fans) wanted to experience. This has a sense of familiarity - don't you think? Isn't this what Bella was experiencing when Edward said goodbye - in New Moon? When the future she longed for was taken away from her?
I will hope and wait - and when the time comes, I will purchase.

The Breaking Dawn Concert Series In LA. I stood in front of the banner that started it all for me. I adore TWILIGHT, it is one of my all time favorite books.

Perhaps I've been hiding under a rock...but what's interesting to me is, I (and a lot of people I've spoken to) didn't even know about the purported leak until we read about it on Stephenie Meyer's website.
After reading the 12 unedited chapters on SM's site, I have to say, it's such a shame. Her work is wonderful, even in its unedited form. She has a gift for capturing and describing the vivid emotions you feel when you fall in love; and, even though all of us already know how the story goes, we are still compelled to cling to Edward's every thought.
I sincerely hope that time will heal these wounds and that she'll pick herself up and continue.

i absolutely love her books and it crushes me that its been leaked. that ruins it for those who patiently suffer in excitement waiting. i hope she will continue because i was eagerly waiting for edwards point of view!

I absolutely adore this series! I'm hoping that Stephenie can put the negativity behind her and finish Midnight Sun. And like Ucibookstore said, I didn't even know the book was leaked until I saw it on Stephenie's website.

This is shocking...I just heard about this story. I can't believe someone would actually leak a rough draft onto the internet. I don't know what I'd do if that happened to me...I'm a writer and would not be very happy about it. I have really enjoyed the first two books in the series...and look forward to reading the next two (hopefully three), and fully intend on purchasing (and waiting) for Midnight Sun...I won't be reading the leaked draft.
I really hope the series is continued, even after this awful instance.

I love the book Twilight...it's so exciting! I'm really looking forward to the movie coming out soon, too! Anyway, I read the first chapter draft on Stephenie's webiste, and it is REALLY good! I'm sure the book will be great...I can't wait for it to be published :)

I love the entire Twilight series and I really hope she rewrites and renames the book. I was looking forward to Edward's point of view in this story. I really hate to see it end. She is such a great author.

The photograph is of the shirt I made from an iron on. The image is from the twilight movie poster. lol. =) I didn't want to pay 20 bucks for a shirt.
I was completely shocked when I read about Stephenie Meyer putting Midnight Sun on hold indefinitely. So sad. =/

Stephanie Meyer has become one of my favorite authors. Her "Twilight" series has been fantastic and these books just really draw me in. When I finish each of these books it is sort of bittersweet for me..I love the books, but at the same time feel sad to be leaving that book. But the good thing is, I own all four books, so I can just read them over and over. :o)
As for her new book, although I have heard that she was writing one from Edward's point of view, I have not seen such a leak, but I really hope that she will complete this book, since I am so looking forward to an added addition to this wonderful series of books.

I love the Twilight series they have been fantastic and Stephanie Meyer has become a personal favirout of mine, the books have just got me obsessed since i read teh first page i havent been able to put them down since. I hope she does not stop writing the series as it is actually truly amazing in my eyes.
I think that if she does stop there will be many miserable fans out there, i cant wait for MidNight sun to come out i have been waiting for ever to read it, as i have not heard anything about a leak on the internet.

I really love the Twilight series. While, I was kind of dissapointed in the fourth book it was still a good collection. I read about her idea to do Midnight Sun and went right away to read the chapter she posted on her website. I hope that the leak doesn't do anything to change her mind about future books. She has a bright future ahead of her and I'd hate to see it all thrown away due to one disloyal person.
at 16:58 on September 4th, 2008
Why do this person do this to her? She's just a great writer and the person just ruined it the book already. I hope this problem don't stop Stephenie Meyer write the book or another book. She's a really good writer and doesn't deserved what are done with her.

I just want to say I'm extremely upset as a reader, but I am more upset for Stephenie Meyers, to have her work, her art, her passion taken away from her...it is completely and utterly wrong. I can't even begin to imagine how this must have felt, a terrible blow from all directions. Why do all good things have to end up getting spoiled?
This series is too amazingly brilliant to be ruined. The response from anyone who reads it is wonderful in itself, and when fans were soon to be given another installment to the collection it somehow gets destroyed. Stephenie I am terribly sorry for what has happened, I hope you will be able to continue one day. I refuse to read any part of Midnight Sun, and still have not, even before the leak. I will encourage other fans not to read it in protest of the spoilers, and to preserve the image Stephenie originally intended for us readers.
