Nicki Minaj - Marilyn Monroe

Although Nicki Minaj is known in hip-hop as a rapper, in a song that leaked on the internet on Monday, a song called Marilyn Monroe shows off her vulnerable side in a ballad.

A new and unofficial song by Minaj leaked on Monday, allegedly titled "Marilyn Monroe" in a personal ballad that she wrote and sang in sweet, soft vocals. The source of the leak is unclear and it has not been confirmed that the track appears on her upcoming sophomore album "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded," which is due out on April 3.

"Just call me blessed. If you can't handle my worst, you ain't getting my best. Is this how Marilyn Monroe felt? Must be how Marilyn Monroe felt," Minaj sings against an upbeat piano and a few synth beats.

The song lyrics draw on a famous quote from Monroe, in which she said: "I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."

The song is likely unfinished, but this start certainly sounds promising. Minaj has a knack for straddling the line between hardcore rap fans and bubblegum pop lovers, with "Monroe" very clearly catering to the latter demo.
