Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman will help her heritage land Australia to bid for the 2018 soccer World Cup. Nine countries are currently contending to host the World Cup in 2018, among them England, Indonesia, Japan, Qatar, Mexico, Russia, South Korea and the United States. The host will be decided exactly a year from now on December 2, 2010. Kidman appears in Australia's "No Worries World Cup" promotional videos where she brands an Aussie World Cup as "fun, relaxed, safe and secure." Australian bid organizers hope Kidman's star appeal will help their cause. But, Kidman is not the only celebrity promoting a national bid. England's soccer star David Beckham will promote U.K.'s bid for the 2018 World Cup as well.
Australia's bid focuses on the nation's track record in staging the 2000 Sydney Olympics plus single-sport events such as the World Cup in cricket and rugby union.
The promotional video, complete with a 16-page 'credentials book' focuses on Australia's: - Proven track record of hosting major international sporting events - Emphasises the multi-culturalism of the Australian game - The effort being made to promote indigenous football - And promotes Australia as being part of the world's fastest growing football region.

Nicole Kidman loves her country and knows about it very well. I dare to say the Aussie bid organisers chose the right person.
