NKOTB Cancels Australia Tour, Blames Recession

New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) have cancelled their Australian tour. On the boy band's blog, Donnie Wahlberg blames the recession. Another way of putting it would be "poor ticket sales", though Australia has a relatively low population, and is really expensive to include in a concert tour, due to the travel distances involved.

Sucks for the folks who wanted to see NKOTB. The tour would have included Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Wollongong, Sydney, Newcastle, and Brisbane in the first two weeks of August.

"Despite warnings that the financial problems plaguing the world would compromise the Australian tour—they never gave up on this dream and neither did we," Donnie Wahlberg writes in a message on the group's official site, nkotb.com.

"We are not going to Australia…quite honestly—we tried very hard to make it work. However—we are, in fact, in the middle of a worldwide recession and we just cannot make it work."

Despite warnings that the financial problems plaguing the world would compromise the Australian tour- they never gave up on this dream and neither did we.
