LL Cool J tweeted he’s not appearing on the Sarah Palin-hosted human-interest program, Real American Stories—contrary to the ads on Fox News that feature him.

The rapper, best known for Rock the Bells and Mama Said Knock You Out expressed his frustration with the conservative network, Fox, on Twitter Tuesday night.

He said he never signed up for the show and that Fox News used footage from a 2008 interview in commercials for Real American Stories without his knowledge.

Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else and are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palin’s show. WOW,” he wrote and retweeted almost 24 times over the following 2 hours.

Real American Stories finds ordinary Americans and has them tell “real-life tales of overcoming adversity.” LL Cool J was raised by his grandparents after his parents divorced when he was 4 and became a successful recording artist and entrepreneur.

Fox News Says LL Cool J's Career 'Fledgling'

LL Cool J—whose real name is James Todd Smith—gave the interview in July 2008 for an online project also called Real American Stories, presumably a predecessor for Palin's show. He feels the network is deceiving its viewers by promoting a one-on-one conversation between he and Palin that never happened.

Fox News issued a statement, saying they wouldn’t air his interview in the show’s debut and sarcastically wished him luck in the future.

As it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others,” said a Fox News spokeswoman, “we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.

LL Cool J has made cameos on House M.D. and 30 Rock, and is currently on NCIS: Los Angeles.

Toby Keith, Jack Welch Also in Real American Stories Ads

Country artist Toby Keith and former GE CEO Jack Welch also appeared in commercials for Real American Stories to talk about their lives.

As well, the first episode will honour a Marine who died while serving his country and a stockbroker giving financial assistance to college students.

Real American Stories premieres April 1st at 10 p.m. EST on Fox News.
