Noel Gallagher get attacked on stage

The Gallagher brothers of UK band Oasis are historically more used to assaulting, both verbally and physically, rather than being assaulted but all that changed when a man jumped on stage and attacked Noel Gallagher during the V Festival in Toronto. Noel and Liam's opinions which they are never shy at sharing have often made some feel like punching them (just ask Jay Z) but usually folks hold back. It's unusual and worrying that someone can get past the tight security that big entertainers have these days but also unusual that someone would actually attack someone on stage in this way. This said Gallagher was attacked on stage in Glasgow back in '94 - that time the set finished as a riot.

The band did return to stage and played 'Don't Look Back in Anger' to huge applause.

The band were mid-way through their headline set at the V Festival and performing the song Morning Glory when the man ran on from backstage and knocked Gallagher to the ground.

Security guards wrestled the intruder to the floor and dragged him away, with brother Liam in pursuit. The man, aged in his 30s, was later arrested.

The band dropped their instruments and left the stage but returned after a 15 minute break to resume their set, to cheers from the 25,000-strong audience.

Gallagher did not look any the worse for his ordeal and the band went on to play Don't Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall and a cover of the Beatles hit I Am The Walrus.

the mood of the performance and of the crowd was notably subdued upon the show's resumption.

The interrupted concert was an unfortunate finale to a two-day festival that drew some 40,000 music fans to see acts such as Foo Fighters, Paul Weller, Stereophonics and Bloc Party.

Oasis plays the final concert of its recent string of Canadian dates in London, Ont., on Sept. 9.

LotusFlower, 'don't look back in anger', indeed. Good stuff.

I had a bunch of friends who were given free tickets to the recent Oasis show in Vancouver.  I guess they can't draw paying concert-goers anymore.  I'm surprised my friends even went for free, actually..

I'm a huge Oasis fan and have been since 1995, so I was startled and admittedly, rather excited when they stopped playing 'Morning Glory' almost at the first chorus very suddenly and left the stage at V-Fest on Toronto's Central Island. You see, I did not see what happened being a short gal, my view was blocked, but I immediately knew, knowing Oasis as well as I do, that something serious had happened. A fellow standing next to me had caught it all on film proclaiming loudly to his buddies "Dude, I got that on film! Now way!" He claimed that Liam had punched a fan who had gotten onstage in the face, and that is what I thought had happened until after the show ended. I admit I was excited to have experienced an Oasis "incident" only having heard of them before. It seemed like forever before the band, minus Liam returned. I was still thinking that Liam had punched somebody and was either in a temper tantrum or being arrested and did not know if he would return. It seemed like a completely different story when I found out what happened and then last night when I heard that Noel had been taken to hospital. I've been defending Oasis and the Gallagher brothers for the past two days - many think they deserved what they got. I don't. No artist deserves to experience something like that and I'm just very glad Noel wasn't badly hurt and that the man who tackled him did not have a weapon. I'm curious as to what his motives were. But I'm glad Oasis and eventually Liam returned to the stage to finish their show, understandably without an encore.
