The nominations for the 16th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards are out. Held since 1995, SAG Awards consist of five film and eight primetime television categories. As many as 4200 randomly selected members of the union choose the nominees this year. The Golden Globe nominations were announced earlier this week and the front runners for the SAG Awards did not really differ much from the Golden Globe nominees -- in fact, only one out of the five names in the best actor and best actress categories was different. And, of course, George Clooney is again in contention for best actor for his role in Up In The Air as is Meryl Streep for best actress in Julie & Julia.

Female supporting actor:

The male supporting actor:

Among Primetime Television shows nominated are:

Drama Series
: The Mentalist, Dexter, Mad Man, House, Law and Order, True Blood.
Comedy Series: 30 Rock, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Monk, Two And A Half Men, Samantha Who?, Glee, Modern Family.

The Life Achievement Award will be presented to Betty White this year.

The 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live nationally on TNT and TBS on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. CT, and 6 p.m. MT from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.
