The past three or more years. In national tests, Norwegian youths results are demeaning and mediocre. We score the least in the entire Scandinavia, consisting of Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden and Finland. On top of the scoreboard there's Finland.

Why do Norwegian education suffer? People claim there's problem in Norwegian homes, other claim the school, or even the politicians.

The Norwegian government and school have been under severe pressure since the reform of 1994. Now a new reform have partially been made, suggesting the use of laptops to ensure the digital competence is maintained. Though, a lot of the students like the idea, the results of national tests have been falling in nearly free fall. People claim lack of discipline, but is that it?

How come we did such a great impression some six years ago. Some commentators claim the answer lies in the '97 reform by former Secretary of Education, Kristin Clemet.

More and more of these so called experts have started to criticise the PISA project which the tests is a part of. For the information: The PISA project is conducting a test upon the 15 year olds of 41 countries, whom some are a part of the OECD:

Perhaps the only thing to do is to wait for the situation to stabilize during the upcoming '09 Norwegian Election.

I do not believe that Lab top computers will help improve Norwegian educational Standards. Vision and the basics may though.
