My previous comments about all of downtown loosing it's low-rise buildings is not entirely accurate - Davie seems to have quite a few. It's only a matter of time though.
This is looking north-north-west and really shows how much taller the new Shangri-la building is than the other buildings in the downtown core. The big building on the left looks tall, but obviously is much closer and 35(!) stories shorter.

A shot looking over Davie street, downtown and north including the new Shangri-La whcich is the new tallest building in Vancouver.
