The soundtrack for the biopic Notorious, about the life and death of Brooklyn rapper Christopher Wallace, or better known as Notorious B.I.G. has topped the Billboard "Top Rap Album" charts after selling 43,000 units during its first week of release. The album and film have both been receiving high praise since release and both are performing well.

The album also placed 2nd on the Billboard "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums” and “Top Digital Albums” charts.

The soundtrack for the film Notorious features a compilation of old Notorious B.I.G. songs, including hits Juicy and Who Shot Ya?,as well as some new music inspired by the film. The standout track on the album is a song by Jadakiss and Notorious B.I.G.'s widow Faith Evans called Letters to B.I.G. The track plays during the closing credits of the film and is a heartfelt goodbye to a friend and husband that they both lost and miss.
