The Italian puppet government has withdrawn the announced measures for liberalization of the taxi service.

The background to that is the nationwide protest organized by Florence taxi union leader Claudio Giudici.

Using "Arab Spring" tactics, Giudici instructed his associates to organize a "spontaneous" demonstration at the Florence airport and train station, then spreading the news on Facebook and Twitter.

Within a few hours Dec. 9, airports in Florence, Milan, and Rome were completely bereft of taxi service. Taxi drivers, however, have guaranteed to provide service for the handicapped, families with children, and hospital patients, visitors, and personnel.

The next day, national taxi union leaders were received by the government, which promised an immediate suspension of the announced measures, in exchange for a suspension of the protests.
