A T-shirt sold by Marietta (Georgia) bar owner is being called racist and and offensive. Mike Norman, owner of Mulligan's Bar and Grill is selling a shirt
featuring cartoon chimp Curious George peeling a banana, with "Obama in '08" scrolled underneath
"It's time to put an end to this," said Rich Pellegrino, a Mableton resident and director of the Cobb-Cherokee Immigrant Alliance. He was among about 15 people who protested outside Mulligan's Bar and Grill Tuesday afternoon against the sale of the "racist and highly offensive" shirts.
Among his recent musings: "I wish Hillary had married OJ," "No habla espanol -- and never will" and the standard "I.N.S. Agents eat free."
Norman said he sees nothing wrong with depicting Obama as Curious George. "Look at him . . . the hairline, the ears, he looks just like Curious George," Norman said. He said he did not design the shirts himself but bought them through a Web site.

This has something to do with Rush Limbaugh I think when he mentioned a similar version to Curious George on his radio program. What I wonder is if President Mugabe of Zimbabwe would consider it a racist shirt, if it said Mugabe '08?
America needs a long sorting out of what is racism. I bet you a million dollars if the shirt was made and displayed in a Black American Bar, everyone would laugh and roar over it, and think nothing of it being racially derogatory.

Interesting. If the tables turned 180 degrees and a black man did a shirt sporting a bleached ape or something as Sen. Clinton or Sen. McCain, that would be okay though, right? Double standard- double standard which is disgusting. In other words no one should be racist- but equal. Two wrongs do not make a right. That shirt idea was a bad idea and the ramifications were huge because of it. Then again the 15 or so protesters would appear to have too much time on their hands and take life way too seriously. Those are the kinds of people who usually cannot take a joke and would try to compare a Bugs Bunny cartoon to real life.
