Obama: I will Not Waste Time With People Who Think It is Good Politics to KILL HCR

In the best strategic move against charges of "Socialism",  Obama gave an effective and resounding speech at a rally at the Target Center in Minnepolis today,  invoking FDR's success with Social Security to resounding applause.  The mood  of the crowd throughout the 40 minute speech was jubilant  and enthusiastic,  inspiring MSNBC's Ed Schulz to call him a "Great Communicator",  referring to the title worn by Ronald Reagan.   The President reminded the crowds of his supporters of just  how much the charges of socialism against him were also leveled at the great FDR.

(* Contrary to the title of today's YouTube of the Minnesota rally,  FDR was NOT booed:  The booing occurred as the President reminded his supporters of GOP charges of Socialism,  leveled against both Obama and FDR.)

A new report from the Treasury Department was cited by President Obama,  telling of the over half of Americans over 65 who stand to lose their healthcare coverage in the next 10 years.  "We've got to do something [on healthcare]!"  cried Obama,  evoking cheers from the crowd.    "Under this plan" , the President continued,  "it will be illegal for insurance companies to turn you down because of a pre-existing condition".  This last is an issue which has irked millions with chronic conditions,  which makes them more, not less,  in need of good insurance.

Political commentators are stressing the need to get detailed with numbers, and how this healthcare reform will be paid for without adding to the defecit.    The President's rally brought to mind the memory of his wildly successful campaing speech when the then-Chicago senator stood on the same platform at the Target Center in Minneapolis.  The consensus is that he is still holding to the public option, and is riding the momentum which began with his adress before Congress Wednesday night.   Said a commentator on MSNBC of the speech,  "He scored a touchdown.".
