With all of the wildly enthusiastic ink being spilled about today's Super Tuesday voting (including yesterday's piece on the will.i.am-produced Obama video), I thought it was time to tally up all of the celebrity endorsements that have been amassed by Obama and Clinton to date. Both are vying for the attention and support of the entertainment crowd and, thus far, Obama's army is growing strong, while Clinton's famous friends appear fewer and further between.

[T]his year, in a Democratic presidential nomination race that has defied convention at every turn, celebrities are playing a much bigger role than usual. Rather than just lend their endorsements, stars from the worlds of music, TV, and movies are taking active roles in getting the word out, particularly in Senator Barack Obama's campaign.

BARACK OBAMA'S CELEBRITY ARMY

Oprah

Saying she felt compelled to support "the man I believe has a new vision for America," Oprah Winfrey spoke passionately about Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama at two rallies in Iowa Saturday.

Robert DeNiro, Usher, Ed Norton, Kerry Washington, Brendan ROuth, Kal Penn, Tate Donovan, Alfre Woodard, Forest Whitaker, Enrique Marciano, and more
Oprah isn't the only one. Voters in many of the Super Tuesday states, particularly on college campuses, shouldn't be surprised to see celebrities such as Robert DeNiro, who appeared today with Obama at a New Jersey rally, Kerry Washington, Usher, Chris Rock, Brendan Routh, Kate Walsh, Kal Penn and Tate Donovan speaking on Obama's behalf.

Will Smith

Will Smith is ready to hit the campaign trail for Barack Obama. When asked if he would do what Oprah Winfrey is doing on behalf of the Democratic presidential hopeful, the "I Am Legend" star told The Post's Sandra Guzmán, "Yeah. I opened it up to him. I just gave him a call and asked him to tell me wherever you think you need me. I think he's what the future of America is going to be. Barack represents what I feel is the future of the optimum survival of America."

Stevie Wonder
Oprah Winfrey wasn't the only icon of the entertainment world coming out to support Presidential hopeful Senator Barack Obama. Stevie Wonder, escorted by the lovely Michelle Obama, was also in the place to be during the rally in U.C.L.A.'s basketball arena last nigh

Chris Rock

At around 5 p.m. yesterday afternoon, I answered my phone like I always do: "This is Vanessa." On the other line? Chris Rock. No, he wasn't phoning in for a scheduled interview -- he was calling me on behalf of Barack Obama and "urging" me (in a recording, of course) to vote for the senator in the New York primary today.

Bright Eyes

A native of nearby Omaha, Nebraka, Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst is no stranger to political rallying. The singer-songwriter toured with Bruce Springsteen and R.E.M. as part of the MoveOn.org Vote for a Change initiative during 2004's presidential campaign. This time around, however, he's supporting Illinois senator and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Morrissey
Hardcore Moz fan, Scarlet Ibis, created the following item, specifically for Steven Patrick Morrissey. He wore it at 1 of his London gigs earlier this week

Will.I.Am, John Legend, Common, Herbie Hancock, Nicole Scherzinger, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Kate Walsh, Nick Cannon, Tatyana Ali, Jesse Dylan, and friends.

Last week, hip-hop artist will.i.am. gathered a long list of celebrity friends and, in the span of just 48 hours, produced and recorded 'Yes We Can' - a star-studded endorsement song/video set to Obama's impassioned New Hampshire speech.

Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, Ryan Reynolds, Taye Diggs

In a recent public opinion poll conducted on Vizu's network of entertainment oriented websites, almost 50% more people selected Ms. Johansson as their favorite Barack Obama celebrity pal.

Joan Baez
Veteran folk singer Joan Baez has come out in support of Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama.0204 05The singer - whose protest songs became famous alongside the likes of Bob Dylan in the Greenwich Village folk scene of the early 1960s - has thrown her support behind the senator hoping to win the Democratic nomination ahead of the presidential election later this year.

Jeff Tweedy, Cool Kids

It takes all kinds for a presidential hopeful to get elected, and that fact is certainly on display in the lineup for "Change Rocks", Barack Obama's campaign fundraiser at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago on December 7. Jeff Tweedy and the Cool Kids feature on a bill that also includes performances from fellow locals Canasta and the Changes.

Daedelus
With Super Tuesday now upon us, our man Daedelus is showing his support with a new track titled "Obama." Yes, that most likely means the SoCal producer and DJ is supporting Barack Obama in today's election. The disco-meets-house-meets-rap number is part of his new side project, Fire Magic Blood, which features Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra and Taz Arnold.

Ben Stiller, Zach Braff, Ed Norton, Tobey Maguire, Eddie Murphy, Natalie Maines, Barry Manilow

Actors who donated to Obama’s campaign include Ben Stiller, Zach Braff, Ed Norton, Tobey Maguire, Eddie Murphy and “Heroes” star (and husband of Dixie Chick Natalie Maines) Adrian Pasdar. Musician Barry Manilow contributed to Obama’s campaign, but also contributed to Obama’s rival Hillary Clinton.

But it doesn't end there. Here's a list of even more celebrities quoted speaking in support of Obama; and here's a photo gallery of famous Obama endorsers.

By contrast, Hillary Clinton's cavalcade of famous friends is decidedly less extensive and varied, although, she has the support of her former president husband and the power of her own celebrity, which even Obama has publicly acknowledged as being of tremendous significance.

HILLARY'S GANG OF FEW

Maya Angelou, Magic Johnson, Tony Bennett, Barbara Streisand, Rob
Reiner, John Grisham, Ted Danson, Billie Jean King, Quincy Jones,
Martha Stewart, Jerry Springer, Jenna Jameson, 50 Cent

Here's an unofficial list of celebrities, newspapers and politicians and their choices for the next President.

Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Ron Howard, America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, Fran Drescher

Clinton isn't without her share of Hollywood fans who are working to augment her built-in name recognition ahead of Super Tuesday.

Chevy Chase, Candace Bergen, Mary Steenburgen, Ivanka Trump

Among Clinton’s other donors were actors Chevy Chase, Candace Bergen, Mary Steenburgen, Kate Capshaw Spielberg (who also contributed to John Edwards) and Ivanka Trump, who was weirdly listed as a “model” even though we thought she’d mostly given that up to work for her dad. Her brother, Donald Trump Jr., also contributed to Clinton’s campaign.
