Simon Thumbs Down Megan Joy

I don't know what to say, I'm just shocked and heart-broken. For some reason that I don't understand, but I'm beginning to suspect, women that we love to hear and look at, and who have the personality to speak up to Simon Cowell, get mowed down in this show. "This is a singing competition" he says. Sure. Why don't you admit it, Simon, you've been dumped by a pretty sweetheart and you just can't forget it. We all have, but why don't you start punishing yourself, not millions of people.

OK, the song she sang yesterday didn't bring out the best in her, a little monotonous, can't say Simon was entirely wrong. But she has a beautiful, unique voice and charisma.  She sang from the heart because she lived that song, that should count for something. Diana Krall would never make it past Simon.

Somehow, I just don't believe in the purported scientific objectivity of the American Idol selection process. There's too much money and politics at stake there. Do millions of Americans look to the judges to decide who to vote for? I doubt it.

She loved her song, and she wouldn't budge, she said she doesn't care. Simon said that's not true, and of course he's right on that score. So he says "If you don't care, we don't care either." We're not gonna save you. How callous can you get ?

I think American Idol may be bad for our health. Where's our Canadian Heritage Minister?
