Their first gig in 14 years will be on May 17 in New jersey, and there's talk of a new album this summer followed by a tour in the fall. If you want tickets, just hang tough--they go on sale Friday.
I hate everything.
I hate everything.
Before the Backstreet Boys, before'N Sync, the biggestboy band of them all was New Kids on the Block. They'renot kids anymore, but they're back on the block.
The group -- which ruled the pop charts in thelate'80s and early'90s, and headlined shows atarenas and stadiums -- has reunited, and will make its firstconcert performance in 14 years at the Izod Center in EastRutherford, May 17.
Their set will be part of radio station Z100'sannual "Zootopia" concert. The rest of the lineupis pretty impressive, too. Miley Cyrus of "HannahMontana" fame will perform, as will "AmericanIdol" winner Jordin Sparks, the Jonas Brothers,OneRepublic, Simple Plan, Gavin DeGraw and Ferras.
Yesterday, it was a worldwide phenomenon all over again with fans posting messages and tribute videos on YouTube that included desperate pleas for the group to include places like New Zealand, Japan, and Hungary on its tour schedule. In another sign that the band could reach international fame again, major label Interscope Records (home to Gwen Stefani and Timbaland) will be releasing the new album, with veteran manager Irving Azoff (the Eagles, Christina Aguilera) guiding the comeback.

New Kids on the Block's "Hangin' Tough" was the first album I ever owned at age five. By the time I was six, I felt a little embarassed that I ever knew or liked them in the first place. Does that say more about the New Kids or me as a six-year-old?

This is one of my favorite New Kids pics. I saw them in concert twice, and I'm so glad they are making a come back!
