Ocean View - One Day As A Lion

On July 22, 2008, the self-titled first album by newly formed group "One Day as a Lion" will drop.  The group is a partnership between Zack de la Rocha (formerly of Rage Against the Machine) and Jon Theodore (formerly of Mars Volta).

De la Rocha will bring his sharp lyrical commentary and Theodore the flawless fury on drums.  According to their website, http://www.onedayasalion.org, the album is "both a warning delivered and promise kept."  It will be a departure from their past groups in that this will be stripped down instrumentally with no guitar or bass.  Just the same, fans are expecting an unparalleled powerful experience.

Akin to the recently disbanded duet "Death From Above 1979" (drums/bass duet), less is much more and the intensity will be magnified by the presence of these two rock heavyweights.  This promises to be a brilliant album and hopefully the beginning of a fruitful and brutally forceful partnership.

Thanks for the post. Are you affiliated with the group? Can you tell us more about this story?

Unfortunately, I know nothing more than what I've read around music journals and their website.  I'm looking forward to hearing the album to provide a full review.  In my case, I'm a fan of both de la Rocha and Theodore, so their return together as a whole is looming large for the Rage and Mars Volta fan bases.

Their website has been very hush on letting anyone preview the tracks.  They just posted "Wild International" on the site today.  You can hear the song in its entirety.  It's a solid track and truly a stripped down effort without the face melting guitar work of their past groups, yet it delivers on the intensity we all know these two are capable of.

I have not delivered the promised review of the One Day as a Lion album.  My apologies, folks.  I've lost a dear friend...my home PC died.  I'm scrambling.
