ONE MILLION MOTHERS MARCH, TAKE BACK OUR CHILDREN
“And the Beast (System) waited to devour the child as soon as He was born…”
No we do't need to just get over it, racism in America is real. After Zimmerman acts of aggression were deemed justifiable by a court system designed to justify the unjustifiable. Will black Americans still say that those days are over? What days of which I am speaking? You mean way back in them days when a black child is killed and the killer get off? Yeah those days, last week to be exact.
The attitude of indifference in the black community makes us all responsible and is the greatest crime against our children. Even though black folks were visibly emotional and I applauded the thousands that took to the streets, when I mentioned that there is a One Million Mothers March and I am a guest poet: Yes there was a lot of support but I also heard too much of “get out of here with that talk about marching; I got something to do, my hair appointment on that day, got to get my nails done. We got it good, got a black man in the white house; big screen TVs, cell phones, play stations; we don’t want hear nothing about no protest, you living in the sixties. Whoever thought we would live to see a black man in the big house? What can we do anyway; its hopeless, I can only look out for me and mine,
Still I choose to look at the glass as half fill. All those that show up will show up. What’s that quote about never under estimating the power of a small group of people to make change, it is the only thing that ever has anyway? Folks may surprise me. I understand so many are just sick and tired of a 400 years fight. We must start somewhere; why not grow where we are planted, in your city, in your neighborhood, on your block, in your church or mosque.
Churches have always been our meeting place. It time to take back our children and tell the beast called intuitionalism racism in the name of God it can’t have them!.
