Open a Bottle of Wine With Your Shoe (Video)
Leave it to boingboing to find the good stuff. In this case, a viral video of a French guy opening a bottle of wine with his shoe. I may try this at lunchtime. Mind you, it looks like the guy in the wine-shoe video does not need any more wine, but hey: what's the point in being able to open a bottle of wine with your shoe if you can't show it off now and then?
This trick has been around for ages (as well as its evil twin: causing someone's beer bottle to overflow by slamming its open top). I wonder why this (or a video like it) is only going viral now. There seems to be an unexplored gap between timeliness and viral-ness (virality?).
At any rate, here's the video, along with a few more videos of people opening bottles of wine with only the power of science (and sometimes power tools. YMMV)
Works with a folded-up hotel towel and a doorframe, corner of a stud wall, or a tree. With a tight cork it can take some patience.
Learned this in boy scouts.
Corkscrews are so last week.
