NP Rank:
Opilones -- Daddy long legs
Painting companion
“Daddy longlegs may refer to:
in biology:
· Opiliones, an order of arachnids
· Crane fly, a family of insects
· Pholcus phalangioides, a species of spider
· Stylidium divaricatum, a plant in the genus Stylidium”
While painting in the woods today at the site of the old Donaldson barn, I was about to dip my brush when I noticed that I had a visitor. I had other paint, so I worked around the daddy long legs. It stayed there quite awhile on one color. It must have been the chemical scent and composition. Glad to have it on board.
The daddy long legs is quite an inspiration. Consider the history in film and music.
“in video:
· Daddy-Long-Legs (novel), written by Jean Webster and basis of multiple films:
o Daddy-Long-Legs (1919 film), a silent comedy-drama starring Mary Pickford
o Daddy Long Legs (1931 film), a musical starring Janet Gaynor and Warner Baxter
o Daddy Long Legs (1938 film), a 1938 Dutch romantic comedy
o Daddy Long Legs (1955 film), a musical starring Fred Astaire
o Ashinaga Ojisan, a 1979 animated Japanese television special produced by Tatsunoko Production
o My Daddy Long Legs, a 1990 animated Japanese television serial produced by Nippon Animation
o Daddy-Long-Legs (2005 film), a Korean romance
· Daddy Longlegs (2009 film), directed by Ben and Joshua Safdie
in music:

· Daddy Long Legs (musician), in Wolfpac and Bloodhound Gang
· Daddy Longlegs (band), a British group that recorded for Vertigo Records”

yea YJ, it could be chemical, visible attraction, vibrational, or.. maybe they were attracted to you ;) your pheromones? remember the biologist who sprayed himself with a particular butterfly pheromone? they covered him.. i think these personal articles are especially important on NP. we're all human beings; the more we 'expose ourselves', the more opportunity we have for positive interactions :) sam

I used Bug Off before I went to the woods. The bugs like the paint, however.
