I was reading an interview with Johnny Depp in the Mirror and they were asking about how it felt to lose his number 1 status as a lady’s man. He pondered that a bit but concluded in my words, not his, that he is basically an ungroomed slob who doesn’t like washing up and trimming his beard.

Then, I switched channels to the Daily Record and saw a much more interesting story about Lady Gaga and her anticipated appearance at the Grammys. Now, Lady Gaga goes to great lengths to stay fresh and different in her appearance. While her music is a constant brand, her changeable appearance is anything but constant. She is well groomed.

LADY Gaga is threatening to unveil her most outrageous outfit ever at the Grammy awards tonight.

The singer's OTT fashion choices have included a dress made of meat, a telephone hat and a bra which shoots fireworks.

But insiders at the Grammys insist we ain't seen nothing yet.

Ken Ehrlich, a co-executive producer for the glitzy show in Los Angeles, is staying tight-lipped about the new creation.

But he did admit: "Nobody will quite believe it when they see it."

Gaga - real name Stefani Germanotti - will perform new single Born This Way on stage at the Grammys.

Fan forums are already buzzing about how her outfits can get any wilder.

Style guru Tessa Hartmann, founder of the Scottish Fashion Awards, says it will be increasingly hard for the star to surpass her previous outfits.

She said: "She has created a monster dilemma for herself in that it will get harder and harder to outdo herself.

"Everyone is expecting bigger and better and she has to deliver. But in fashion, anything is possible and I know she has the confidence to pull it off.

"With all the different media channels, it is not longer just about the voice, it's about the whole entertainment experience.

"What I love about Gaga is that her facial expressions in photographs make her look shy and retiring - a total contradiction in terms considering what she is wearing.

"I can't wait to see it."

Lady Gaga is in the running for five awards including Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Dance Recording and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for No.1 smash Bad Romance.

She has also been nominated alongside Beyonce for Best Pop Collaboration for Telephone.

Mumford & Sons, Florence and the Machine and La Roux carry British hopes at the ceremony in the Staples Center.”
