Oscar Food and Menu: Wolfgang Puck, chef to the stars, caters Governor's Ball
For the 16th consecutive year Wolfgang Puck is in charge of food for the Oscars, specifically he is the official chef to the Governor's Ball. The Governor's Ball section of the Oscar website says about 1500 guests attend the Governor's Ball including Oscar winners, presenters and other Hollywood celebrities.
Governor's Ball 2010: Oscar Menu
Wolfgang Puck will be supervising a kitchen staff of 250, with 900 catering staff serving up 1200 bottles of Moet Chandon Champagne. The menu includes an Asian inspired appetizer list.

- Smoked Salmon Pizza with Caviar and Dill Creme
- Black Truffle & Ricotta Cheese Pizza
- Vegetable Spring Rolls with Sweet & Spicy Dipping Sauce

The main course Dinner will have fish or chicken dishes; House Smoked Salmon, Potato Galette, Creme Fraiche and Baby Greens with Butler-passed Warm Brioche. Chicken Pot Pie with Yukon Gold Potatoes, Baby Heirloom Vegetables and Homemade Pastry Crust.
The Dessert will be “L’Etoile de Oscar” Baked Alaska with Espresso Glace, Guittard L’Etoile du Nord Chocolate Sorbet and Toasted Meringue.
Food included 1,000 pounds of wild salmon, 1,200 pounds of organic chicken, 50,000 pounds of organic heirloom baby vegetables, 1,200 spiny lobsters, 15 whole yellowtails, 150 pounds of Albacore tuna, 1,200 Kumamoto oysters, 100 pounds of mussels, 150 pounds of clams, 7,200 shrimp, 50 whole Thai snappers, 190 pounds of scallops, 1,000 crab claws, as well as 4,000 mini chocolate Oscars.
One suspects that with diet obsessed Hollywood and a room full of image conscious celebrities that just maybe all the food will be overkill.
