Nominations for the 2009 Oscars — officially known as the 81st Annual Academy Awards — were announced on Thursday by Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker and Academy President Sid Ganis.

"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" leads all other films with a staggering 13 nominations, including nods for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Visual Effects, Best Actor (Brad Pitt), Best Supporting Actress (Taraji P. Henson), Best Adapted Screenplay, and many others.

Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire" has been nominated for 10 Oscars, while the Pixar animated film "Wall-E" received 6 nominations.

This year's Academy Award ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 22nd in Hollywood, California at the Kodak Theatre and broadcast live on ABC.
