Gotta disagree with you on Best Supporting Actor. While Downey Jr. was hilarious in Tropic Thunder, Leger topped him with the Joker's performance.

If Wall-E doesn't get best animated, well, Obama might not be able to save America.

Am I the only one who hated Wall-E?  Thankfully I rented it through Movie Cube and didn't spend a fortune as I never finished it.

I'm also re-considering our choice of Best Actor. Although Rourke was incredible - Sean Penn was amazing as well. That's a really tough call.

And absolutely agreed about Wall-E. I still think it deserved a Best Picture nomination.

Who do you think will win the oscar for best original score and which song will win the best original soundtrack?

I think Slumdog will win Best Picture and Best Director. WhileBenjamin Button will win best adapted screenplay. I think Mickey Rourke has had such a build up then let down now a hugely sucessful comeback, i think it's only fair to give him the oscar merely for fighting his way back to sucess, puls he was very good  in the wrestler. As for best actress, I lvoe Meryl Streep but I hoenstly think Kate Winslet deserves the oscar, I thougth she should have won way back with Titanic but they passed her up. She is such a talented woman and i think this is her time. However I would like to see Anne Hathway win one so she finally break away from her disney princess diaries faze. I'm a big Jolie fan and would liek to see her appreciated more as an actress but I don't think she will win. I think Leder had the best performance of all the nominees. Yes Robert Downey was funny but Ledger's Joker was so sadistic and creepy that it blew me away literally. Ledger deserves to win. As for supporting two words: Penelope Cruz. She is so beautiful and such a good actress, she  literally shone in Vicki Christina Barcelona. I think orginal score should and will go to A.R Rahman the genius behind the mscores to Bollywood Films like Jodbha Akbar and musicals like Lord of the Rings and Bollywood Dreams.

Great Choices!

I agree with your choices in Best Picture, Foreign, Original Screenplay and Animated. In terms of your other choices, it's going to be difficult to determine (atleast I think so) who I think the Academy is going to award. Sean Penn & Mickey Rourke are both front runners, but I think Penn may edge Rourke out. Hands down for me, Winslet whould win this award-when the nominations were announced, I was surprised her role in Revolutionary was overlooked, but had 'The Reader' role been in the supporting category, the award would've been hers, no doubt. It's an obvious choice for Ledger, as he's already winning left, right and centre, but if I had chosen the winner, it would either have been Downey Jr, or Michael Shannon. I think Boyle will win for directing, and Slumdog will win adapted as well. For supporting actress, I'm gonna say either Tomei, Davis or Cruz.....I don't think Henson was that great and Adams was annoying. Yeah....and I agree with you on Art Direction too....it'll be a night full of surprises!

I have seen ever single movie either at the theatre or "bootlegged", SO IN MY OPINION

Picture - Slumdog Millionaire
Simply the best film of the year!!!  Milk 2nd, The Reader 3rd, Benjamin Button 4th, Frost/Nixion 5th

Director - Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire)
Same as above, I believe the director should get awarded for his picture.  I also placed the directors in the same ranking as their films.

Actor - Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler)
The comeback of the year and honestly the best performance of the year!!!  Sean 2nd, Frank 3rd, Brad 4th, Richard 5th

Actress - Kate Winslet (The Reader)
She is excellent in every film she is in!!!  It is time to reward her for being consistent!!!  Anne 2nd, Angelina 3rd, Meryl 4th, Melissa 5th

Supp. Actor - Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight)
The second best performance of the year, after Mickey!!!  Robert 2nd, Philip 3rd, Josh 4th, Michael 5th

Supp. Actress - Penelope Cruz (Vicky Christina Barcelona)
The third best performance of the year, after Mickey and Heath!!!  Marisa 2nd, Viola 3rd, Taraji 4th, Amy 5th

Based on the acting categories - here is my ranking:

1. Mickey
2. Heath
3. Penelope
4. Sean
5. Frank
6. Marisa
7. Kate
8. Anne
9. Robert
10. Angelina
11. Meryl
12. Brad
13. Melissa
14. Philip
15. Viola
16. Taraji
17. Richard
18. Josh
19. Michael
20. Amy

Mickey Rourke was brilliant in the wrestler.  Who would have imagined a movie about the real world of pro wrestling would produce a best actor nom?  Hey if you've ever seen Ready to Rumble (which was beyond great) you'd understand wrestling movies have come a long way.

Heath Ledger played the Joker I know from the comic books.  He's the kind of Joker that would give people nightmares.  If you disagree pick up a comic book.  I suggest the Killing Joke or Last Laugh.

Slumdog Millionaire was by far the best movie of the five listed (though I haven't seen the Reader or Milk as they are simply not my kind of movies).  Frost/Nixon was so slow until the end that I was starting to fall asleep.  My nod towards Slumdog.

I'm still miffed that Springsteen wasn't nominated for his song the Wrestler
