The New Zealand Red Cross Samoa Tsunami Relief Fund at Givealittle received a flood of donations from around the world.

With many donors leaving comments the team at Givealittle looked for a way to capture and share these with the many people in Samoa effected by the tsunami.

Never shy about making bold moves Givealittle made a call to legendary New Zealand artist Dick Frizzell to ask if they could have his son's phone number.

Dick's son Otis Frizzell is a widely recognized artist in his own right with his work found in the Saatchi and Saatchi offices, Robbie Williams' London management company offices IE Music, Breast Cancer t-shirts and Playstation ads.

Otis agreed to undertake the brief of 'creating an original piece of art to capture the generosity and comments made by donors from around the world'.

The resulting 8 x 2m work will be gifted by Givealittle to the people of Samoa and a limited edition run of prints will be auctioned with the proceeds adding to the relief fund.

Another another phone call resulted in The Museum of New Zealand - Te Papa getting behind the project and supporting the project with a public space in which Otis created the work.

From Tuesday 13 - Friday 16 October 2009 Otis has been furiously working on making his concept a reality.  The progress has been captured by photo and video daily and posted to Flickr to allow those outside of Wellington to watch the progress.
