Over the Box Office Weekend, 'W' Gets Trumped By 'Max Payne'
On this box office weekend, we got to see the release of some new films. One notable and highly anticipated film was “W” by Oliver Stone. This was the biographical drama on the life of current United States President George W. Bush.
Actor Josh Brolin stars as George W. Bush.
One could expect and anticipate that W would rank in at first or second. However, it was not the case. It was estimated that W had come in fourth place. The biographical drama came two places behind “Beverly Hills Chihuahua.” On one aspect, W got trumped by a film that mainly targeted a family oriented audience.
In third place was “The Secret Life of Bees.” This was a film that mainly appealed to female audiences.
One would ask: Which film came out at number one during the box office weekend?
The answer would be “Max Payne” starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. Interestingly enough, it seems that this is the first time that a film adapted from a popular video game has made it to the top of the box office top ten.
Wahlberg portrays the role of the film and game’s antagonist, Max Payne. Those that have played the game should already understand the plotline. Kunis portrays Mona Sax.
In regards to the game, Max Payne was well received when it was released back in 2001. It was a precursor to the games based off the popular “Matrix” movie trilogy with its bullet time mode.
In a nutshell, W ended up getting trumped by Max Payne, a movie adapted from a video game, during the box office weekend.
