By Bollywood standards Paa is a rare film. Paa, at least according to the movie reviews tackles stuff well beyond the normal song and dance Bollywood fare.

Starring Amitabh and Abhishek Bachan, Paa is being billed as a "father-son-son-father" story.

66 year old Amitabh Bachan the biggest film star in India during the 1980s and much of the 1990s plays Auro, a 13 year old boy suffering from Progeria - a disease which causes him to age before his time. His father in the film is played by his son in real life, Abhishek Bachan - known in the West as Mr. Aishwarya Rai (former Ms. Universe).

"The make up was the toughest part, but I don't want anyone to think that this is a film about progeria. This is a father-son story at its heart," director R. Balakrishnan said.

Balakrishnan also flatly rejected suggestions Paa had echoes of The Curious Case of Benjamin Butt, starring Brad Pitt or Jack,  starring Robin Williams

Though the early reviews have been positive it will be interesting to see if Paa resonates with audiences as the Bollywood audiences seem to prefer more standard fare for the film diet.
