Painting, sculpture exhibition on women’s beauty

Liberality and harmony, the ultimate unity of Yin and Yang are what the audience can feel from paintings and statues by the couple Le Cong Thanh and Nguyen Kim Thai.

The exhibition displays 30 paintings and sculptures describing the beauty of women’s body in normal life. Through these artworks, Le Cong Thanh and Nguyen Kim Thai describer the harmony between modernity and tradition, the creativeness, love and life and a deeply spiritual world.

Sculptor Le Cong Thanh was born in 1931. He graduated from and became a lecturer at the Vietnam University of Arts. He is influenced by British sculptor Henry Moore and the one spans the generations of artists before and after Doi Moi (renovation) period. He is known widely in France, South Korea and Europe.

Painter Nguyen Kim Thai was born in 1943. She also graduated from the Vietnam University of Arts. Her major works are oil, lacquer and silk paintings. She has won many awards and had exhibitions in France. She is known as the first female painter of the Doi Moi period.

The exhibition is held at the South Korean Cultural Centre, 49 Nguyen Du, Hanoi from April 11 to 26, 2008.
