The style of a painter may vary, but over time a pattern may emerge that cause viewers to declare they recognize it.

For me, patterns are affected not only by what I paint but by what I am using, my pallet and my brushes. Sometimes, I restrict both to constrain and challenge to produce with limitations.

Here are two pictures painted a day a part. The subject matter is vastly different: 1) flowers within 15 feet and 2) a tree 100 yards away. The flowers are in full sun and the tree is partially shadowed at the ground level. They are painted with the same brush and pallet.
