Palin called war 'task that is from God'

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a "task that is from God."

In an address last June, the Republican vice presidential candidate also urged ministry students to pray for a plan to build a $30 billion natural gas pipeline in the state, calling it "God’s will." Palin asked the students to pray for the troops in Iraq, and noted that her eldest son, Track, was expected to be deployed there. "Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God," she said. "That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God’s plan."

A video of the speech was posted at the Wasilla Assembly of God’s Web site before finding its way on to other sites on the Internet. Palin told graduating students of the church’s School of Ministry, "What I need to do is strike a deal with you guys." As they preached the love of Jesus throughout Alaska, she said, she’d work to implement God’s will from the governor’s office, including creating jobs by building a pipeline to bring North Slope natural gas to North American markets. "God’s will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that," she said. "I can do my job there in developing our natural resources and doing things like getting the roads paved and making sure our troopers have their cop cars and their uniforms and their guns, and making sure our public schools are funded," she added. "But really all of that stuff doesn’t do any good if the people of Alaska’s heart isn’t right with God."

Palin attended the evangelical church from the time she was a teenager until 2002, the church said in a statement posted on its Web site. She has continued to attend special conferences and meetings there. Religious conservatives have welcomed her selection as John McCain’s running mate.

The Assemblies of God, which claims nearly 3 million members, is one of the biggest Pentecostal groups in the U.S.

iraqivetwifeforchange, I like this story. It's good stuff.

Are we in Revelations yet?  I only ask because it seems false prophets abound.  Bombing folks apparently without provacation does not sound like the Jesus I know and love.

And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. ~ 1 John 3:23

Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.   ~ Jeremiah 14:14

Yep, so the war can go on, it is really fine that Sarah Palin has been informed by God over what she calls God's Plan.

Great work.

iraqivetwifeforchange, I like this story. It's good stuff. Oh lawdy, not another one who thinks he/she actually talks to God and that we're killing our own people because it's Gods will.

Might as well believe Falwell, that aids is God's way of spanking us for our immorality

Thanks!

Yes, I find it strange that she has this kind of relationship with God. Why didn't he tell her 9-11 was coming? We would save several trillion dollars from Iraq, 4000+ soldiers, 2000+ 9-11 victims, 2 iconic towers, the billions it took to rebuild, not to mention the extra money spent on homeland security, the FCC, and save our reputation in the world. And, it would give her probably the highest approval rating possible with no contest for VP. But alas, I guess she was too busy riding her snow mobiles and hunting down Bambi to make a pelt for her office to heed his message that day. Go figure!

Here is the link to youtube where you can see the entire speech. At least until they yank it, as they have done with so many other things on the net lately with regards to Palin. I am fairly computer savvy but I have not learned how to download and save youtube videos to my hard drive from adobe flash so that when they do yank stuff like this, we can truly keep freedom of the press alive.

It also makes you wonder. Someone from that church had to have "leaked" this on youtube for a reason. Especially knowing the media scrutiny it would receive. Maybe Alaska is not as smitten with Palin as we think?

Palin needs to be dumped into the rubbish bin with the McCain/Obama warmongers.

Will someone please poison her food?

I knew I'd vote for a Democrat for President-whether it's Kucinich, Hillary, or Obama. Now, I'm even more sure than ever before that I don't want McCain in the White House if he has a VP who feels it's her calling from God to keep the US troops fighting the war.

I believe that God wants peace and war by its very nature violates the commandment "Thou shalt not kill." In fact, it even ruins the lives of the military personnel and veterans who survive the experience.

Sounds like Joshua in the bible, Bin gone Laden, and Saddam whose dead.  Genocide is a modern term though.  And guess what?  Its all about the oil not grapes.
