Pangea Day promises to be a fascinating global event that, with TED's support, will simultaneously broadcast a series of 24 films to a global audience, over the span of 4 hours.

and Cameron Diaz hop aboard the Pangea Day parade slated to take place
May 10 when musicians and filmmakers from Cairo, Kigali, London, Los
Angeles, Mumbai and Rio de Janeiro join virtual hands for a highly
wired festival of global culture.

Besides the mainstage performances, more than 1,000 events are
expected to be generated by citizen journalistis transmitting photos,
video, and text mesages at the pangeaday.org web site.

Hosted by Current TV's Max Lugavere and Jason Silva (pictured) along
with Lisa Ling and June Arunga, the festivities will be subtitled in
Arabic, English, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, and Spanish, with
performances viewable online, on TV, and via mobile phone.

Besides the live music, 24 short films selected from more than 2,500
international submissions will be shown. Speakers include CNN's
Christiane Amanpour, musician/activist Bob Geldof and Iranian rock star
Hypernova.

Pangea Day, created by filmmaker and Ted prize winner Jehane Noujaim, will be transmitted to more than 150 countries with a potential audience of 500 million people.[/q]

It's not too late to tune in to tomorrow's Pangea Day, an international film event on which short films contributed by people around the world will be broadcast live simultaneously. Pangea, a term you may remember from fifth grade geography (as Pangaea), was the name of the original recipe continent before the land mass split into extra tasty crispy America and Everywhere Else.
