On May 10th, Pangea Day will bring the world together through film and music. It will be the first global campfire ever. Several major cities (Cairo, Kigali, London, Los Angeles, Mumbai, and Rio de Janeiro) will interact in a 4-hour long live videoconference that will be streamed on the Internet, on mobile phones, and on TV channels so that the whole world can see it.
It all started with an idea awarded at TED (again!) in 2006, expressed by Jehane Noujaim, the Control Room filmmaker. Jehane believes that the first tangible step towards world peace is a way for people to meet people across the world, a different way to travel and get to know each other: the power of images, of film.
Where do we come in, 43 days before the first Pangea Day? We can host an event, inviting dear ones to watch with us, or find an event near us, to attend. The map above shows we're not short of choices. The easiest thing we can do? Promote Pangea Day. The clock is ticking.
