Patti Smith to Release Album with My Bloody Valentine

This makes me very happy.

Patti Smith is to release an album with My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields.

The star's spoken-word performances of 'The Coral Sea' in London, which took place in June 2005 and September 2006, will be released on CD on July 10.

The recordings feature guitar backing by Shields, reports Billboard.

The double-disc set will be made up of Smith's verbal tribute to the late photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. 'The Coral Sea' is also the title of a 1996 Smith book of prose and poetry.

Legendary punk rocker/poetess Patti Smith mid-set in Madison, Wisconsin in August 2007. Surprisingly talkative throughout the evening, Smith and her powerful band led the crowd through songs old and new. Place was packed to the gills and the steam rose off each and everybody who danced the night away.

When I found out that I could be in the "photo pit" for a Patti Smith performance, I was blown away by the opportunity. We were only allowed photos the first three songs, but that was enough to capture her essence. I hope I'll get another chance; she's teh quintessential performer, writer, and artist. Truly an inspiration.

C'était le 27 mars 2008 à la Fondation Cartier à Paris à l'occasion du vernissage de l'exposition "Land 250". Les photos exposées sont des polaroïds dans leur taille d'origine, enfermés dans une boite en plexiglas donc illisibles. Le livre paru pour l'occasion est bien plus intéressant.
